Thirty
Five Youth from Maryland, Minnesota,
New York, and Washington, D.C. will be
celebrated and given recognition for having
sacrificed their summer of hanging out;
to have fun engaging themselves with activities
with YIMA to help improve on their Math,
Reading, and Science Skills.
The public is invitedto come and celebrate
our youth and to learn more about the Youth
Initiative Mentoring Academies (Aviation
Academy) that has opened two mentoring sites
in Maryland and Washington, D.C.
The Youth Initiative Mentoring Academies
(Aviation Academy) is a non profit mentoring
program for at-risk youth ages 8 years old
to 19. The youth in this academy attended
ground and flight school with their adult
mentors all summer long. They received hands
on experience flying aircraft and simulators,
learned about life and leadership skills,
but most of all had lot’s of fun.
At the ceremony graduates will speak on their
experiences with the program and share photos.
The graduates will be the host and hostess
of The Youth Initiative Mentoring Academies
Thirteenth Annual Community Spiritual and
Health Workshop. They will give presentations
along with their Honorary Mentors on topics
in Aviation Science Engineering, Law Enforcement,
Psychology, Pediatric Medicine College Preparation,
Safety, Spiritual Healing, and on How to
Build Positive Relationships and Bonding
with a Responsible Adult.
- Bishop Larry Sturgis, D.D. (Temple
of The Living God) Worldwide Ministries
will deliver a fiery invocation and message
to the graduates.
- Keynote Speaker is a living legend
- Tuskegee Airmen (USAF) Retired Lt.
Col. Lee Archer , an Honorary Mentor
and Advisor of the YIMA.
- Our Jr. Keynote Speaker is Ms. Zaire
Dunnigan of Capitol Heights, Maryland,
is thirteen years old, a pilot in training
with the YIMA Aviation Academy and a
4.0 Student.
- A helicopter fly-in is scheduled for
10:00 AM by the Metropolitan Police
Department
- University of Maryland Eastern Shore
and Delaware State University will speak
on their Aviation Science and Engineering
Schools
This program is being dedicated to the
Memory of three YIMA Honorary Mentors: The
Late Tuskegee Airman (USAF Retired) Lt.
Col. Charles W. Dryden who also
authored the book ("A-Train Memoirs
of a Tuskegee Airman"); Journalist and
Ebony Fashion Fair Model Patricia
Wilson Crutchfield; (North West
Airline Pilot (Retired) Elmer Phil
Schacht.

will be hosting a Black History Month presentation
and book signing with a "World Living
Legend", USAF Ret. Colonel Charles
E. McGee. |
